In fotografia, la Pop Art o "arte popolare", corrisponde a un movimento artistico nato a metà degli anni '60, caratterizzato da particolari lavorazioni (collage, acrilico, serigrafia, ecc.) e forme semplici e accessibili. al maggior numero. Ironica e talvolta parodica, questa corrente si manifesta con sorprendenti riferimenti alla Pop Culture (Burger King, Marilyn Monroe, Mickey Mouse…), in uno stile industriale, denigrato fino ad ora da precedenti movimenti artistici. La fotografia sarà uno dei mezzi più utilizzati dagli artisti della Pop Art: il pioniere, Andy Warhol, utilizzerà questo strumento per realizzare la maggior parte dei suoi coloratissimi dittici, ma altri artisti e fotografi come Gerard Malanga o Richard Hamilton influenzeranno e documenteranno questa tendenza . Infine, per alcuni artisti molto ispirati ad essa, la fotografia fungerà da ponte tra moda e creazione artistica.
